The client is a statutory
government authority managing water catchment and supply for irrigation.
Steeped in the ethos that
"we have always done it this way", this institution was undergoing
a fundamental transformation. Government decided to corporatise and then privatise this
business within a relatively short period of time. As staff displacements were to be minimised the re-skilling of the current workforce was a driving imperative.
The CEO wasn't getting
anywhere fast. Working together with this client we involved ALL staff
and a representative sample of customers to develop a new strategic direction. We
coached the Chairman of the Board, CEO and senior executive staff throughout the change management process.
This developed a culture
that allowed the changes to take place in a consultative, friendly
and non-threatening environment. During the consultative process we accessed the broader
range of thinking from all stakeholders. This had not previously been captured.
The transformation took
place within the required time frame and the client received
accreditation at the highest level.
